The V16 was *only* a 452. The Lincoln 430 MEL is nearly as big, and the 462 MEL and Ford 460 in later 70s models are bigger.

And yet for some reason, Cadillac believes the One True Cadillac Design Ethos is box corners and sharp edges. WHY

I have always regarded Cadillac being "above" Lincoln but still I think that Cadillac briefly lost the place when 4th generation Continental introduced in '61. They were so sleek looking compared to the weird Cadillac models of '61 and '62. And Imperial had just gone to even weirder direction.
But both Lincoln and Cadillac are a slight automotive disappointment as neither of them have ever used inline 8 engine. Cadillac was developing a V12 in early 60's but they binned the idea after they had some reliability issues with the prototype engines.
